Location is a big part of our
two-minute film opening. Originally, we wanted to have the main protagonist
wake up on a roof of a building, but after some thought, we realized that it
would not be the best option for that is a difficult location to find.
After the roof idea was shot down,
we had the idea of having the character wake up in a beaten down, old building.
Guste knew of a place in a city about an hour away from here, Wynwood. Just
like the first idea, this idea was shot down due to difficult location. Wynwood
is a long drive and if we had to reshoot anything, it would be a process to go
back there.
After much searching and a little
bit of luck, we found the perfect location. Lucie’s dad works in a warehouse
about 20 minutes away from where we live, and he said behind the warehouse,
there are train tracks that are never used anymore. We thought the train tracks
would be a perfect location to shoot our film opening because it would give the
sense of isolation that we wanted, yet also being close to home. So this is the location we decided to use.
